Contributors

Articles on any aspect of teaching or learning music theory will be welcome. Contributions will be judged on originality, relevance, interest to a diverse audience, and clarity of writing.
Manuscripts should be sent electronically, in pdf format, to Dr. Alice Lanning at alanning@ou.edu. Submissions should be in 12-point type, doublespaced (including footnotes, references, and quotations), with at least one-inch margins. Footnotes, tables, figures, musical examples, and other material may be included within the text or placed at the end (in which case accompanied by clear indications of where they fit in the text). Long musical examples and complex diagrams or charts should be avoided when possible. Please also avoid musical symbols (i.e., notation) within the running text.
Upon agreement to publish, authors may be required to revise the article to fit the style guidelines of the journal (Chicago Manual of Style). Authors will also be asked to submit a final copy, on CD, as per the editor's production specifications.
The author is responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material and for paying permission fees, if necessary. Permissions must accompany the electronic submission of accepted manuscripts.
The author is responsible for providing camera-ready copy for all non-text items, and for insuring that all tables, figures, musical examples, and other material are legible when reduced to 4-1/2" x 7" dimensions. This material should also be submitted electronically if possible. (PDF format preferred)
Manuscripts are accepted on the condition that they are unpublished and are not presently being submitted for publication elsewhere. Since all submissions are reviewed anonymously, please include the author's name and address only in the cover letter and eliminate identifying references (such as names of schools) from the article.

The JMTP staff will send guidelines for style and electronic manuscripts to anyone requesting this information. On most matters of form and style, JMTP follows The Chicago Manual of Style.
